I have been experiencing problems with Windows 10 update for a few months ever since I have updated to version 20H2. Then nothing happens, we are back to exactly the same status as before with the Error Encountered message. I wonder anyone has encountered similar problem like myself and what did you do to fix the problem.

Overall, I don't have any issues using my PC as in there is no failure or crashes, everything software or application level is working fine.

Appreciate anyone with similar encounter share what can be done to rectify this problem. I have tried the method provided by Windows tech support as shown below to be executed from Command Prompt window with Administrator rights but it didn't work. This thread is locked. I have tried Method 1, initially I thought the problem was resolve after executing the. But when I clicked on Check Update again the same problem resurfaces again. So I believe the only option would be go for Method 2 but the link you have provided by PaulSey only provides in-place Windows upgrade and not from the created installation media or iso. Is there another link that provides a guide on installing via the media files? I notice that there are quite a lot of folders and files that are leftover by multiple upgrades of windows 10, is there a recommended way to clean up all the leftover folders and files from previous versions of Windows 10?
